Soo, this past few days have not been particularly eventful. Yesterday I went to Makkah, since it could  be a while until I get to go again. Did some praying of course :P Most of Thursday was spent with famillial friends. Lunched at Chillis with M & M and parentals and their grandparental as well.  Dinner was at mine with D,J,H and parentals, but without W. Also Z,O,A and parentals were there. It was quite amusing. We told each other horror stories. We were hesitant at first because of little A, but as it turned out she had the most stories to tell :P Supernatural came up as well. D&J watch it, as well as Grey’s. J was talking about Medicine at Uni, and said “Oh the Med students…? We never see them.” It was very encouraging. Haha. :P

Little sister Aliya keeps leaving me these depressing notes. Like yesterday she gave me one that said “Nada, I will love you even if you live in London and I will never ever forget you. xxooxxooxx” She’d typed it out on the computer in pink and I would guess it took her a whiile since she’s pretty slooww at typing. Aww :(

My travel plans have changed –scowl-  originally I was meant to go up to London with Khali [mom’s half brother] or Nanaboo [Maternal Grandpops- I was supposed to call him Nana-Abu in true Desi style, but apparently as a child I had difficulty saying this], spend a week and go to Toronto... then it changed so that I'd go to London with my Dad spend a couple of days and go to Toronto] and now my Dad's flying with me alllll the way to Toronto and we've only got a few hours in London. I think this is a waste of time and money since it's not like I'm handicapped and I can travel on my own, but at least my mom won't be miserable with worry. It’s a bit of a shame since I wanted to see if I could meet up with my next years housemates in London.

The other thing I wanted to do in London was dye my hair. Now I’m facing a slight dilemma regarding how to do this and what colour. n516770948_508421_8098[1] When I turned 15, as a birthday present my mom let me dye my hair red.. in the bangs anyway. [It was a better option for her than having my ear cartilage pierced :P]. It was L'Oreal permanent [i think]. I didn’t bleach my hair or anything but it stayed for ages and faded to this orangey-brown colour that was still present several months later. Then when I went to Canterbury (UK) lastspring summer I decided to dye my hair again. So I bought a pot of semi-permanent Directions  spring green hair dye from this shop called Siesta. It didn’t take on my dark hair, even on the aforementioned orangey part. So I bleached my bangs and dyed them. It didn’t last that long either, maybe because I didn’t bleach my hair down to platinum blonde. It was taking way too long, and I just left it at an orangey blonde. The nice green colour stayed about 2 weeks (maybe less, i can’t remember) before it turned into this swamp colour. It got me a lot of attention haha.100_3496 100_3746 - CopyThe first picture shows my hair at the height of it’s greenness and the second shows it a few days later. I’ve still got a considerable amount of that green left, so if all else fails I’ll go green again. This time I think I’ll do it slightly different though. My bangs have grown really long anyways. So I’m thinking of dying less conspicuous areas, since as I realised later, once the colour fades, it leaves that bleachy orange. Which I then have to dye black [which is darker than my actual hair]. After a while the black also fades, and then I get a red-brown colour. And I find this all quite annoying. emogirlSoo I was thinking of doing something like this.  Not the same colour, but that whole stripy thing, on the inside of my hair.  About the colour I want next… well I was thinking pink, purple or blue. So I tried them out…

I’m not really sure which I like best :P I did find two reaaallly cool dye-jobs though. I personally L O V E the first one. emohair 2516292312a4831149892lIt’s probably not high quality enough to see, but she actually does have a lip ring and five colours in her hair :}. And it’s not just the hair dye I love, the cut is pretty cool too. Right now, my hair when curly reaches my lower back, but when I straighten it it’s about ass-length. I’m thinking for the summer I’ll do that whole stripy dye thing in blue/pink/purple, dye it back to black before school and then when I come back home in half term I think I’ll get that cut like the first picture above :} So yeah, let’s hope I can get my hands on some dye. [I’ve asked M to see if she can find me some since she’s already in Canada.]

Anyways this has been an excruciatingly long post about hair, so I think I’ll end it now.

“You’ve been hit by, you’ve been struck by, a smooth criminal.” RIP Michael Jackson.

[It’s a shame he died, Khali had 2 concert tickets]

Five Colours In Her Hair

McFly

She's got a lip ring and five colours in her hair,
Not into fashion but I love the clothes she wears,
Her tattoo's always hidden by her underwear.
She don't care.
Everybody wants to know her name,
I threw a house party and she came
Everyone asked me
Who the hell is she?
That weirdo with five colours in her hair.
She's just a loner with a sexy attitude,
I'd like to phone her ’cause she puts me in the mood.
The rumours spreading that she cooks in the nude.
She don't care
She don't care
Everybody wants to know her name,
How does she cope with her new found fame?
Everyone asks me,
Who the hell is she?
That weirdo with five colours in her hair.
She was all I thought about,
The girl I couldn't live without.
But then she went insane,
She couldn't take the fame
She said I was to blame
She'd had enough
And shaved five colours off
And now she's just a weirdo with no name.
Everybody wants to know her name.
How does she cope with her new found fame?
Everyone asks me,
Who the hell is she,
That weirdo with five colours in her hair.

{ I don’t want to go; I don’t want to stay.

Nothing In My Way

Keane

A turning tide
Lovers at a great divide
Why d'you laugh?
When I know that you're hurt inside?
And why'd you say
It's just another day, nothing in my way
I don't wanna go, I don't wanna stay
So there's nothing left to say?
And why'd you lie
When you wanna die, when you're hurt inside
Don't know what you lie for anyway
Now there's nothing left to say
A tell-tale sign
You don't know where to draw the line
And why'd you say
It's just another day, nothing in my way
I don't wanna go, I don't wanna stay
So there's nothing left to say
And why'd you lie
When you wanna die, when you're hurt inside
Don't know what you lie for anyway
Now there's nothing left to say
Well for a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
For a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
For a lonely soul, it seems to me that you're having such a nice time
You're having such a nice time
(Just...)
For a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
(...another day, nothing in my way, I..)
For a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
(...don't wanna go, I don't wanna stay. just..)
For a lonely soul, it seems to me that you're having such a nice time
(... another day, nothing in my way; Don't know what you lie for...)
You're having such a nice time
(...anyway)

Yesterday was really not a fun day at all. I slept at like 3 or possibly after, since I was having a Supernatural marathon, and I had to wake up at 8 in order to go to school. Why am I going to school in the midst of  s u m m e r  ? Because my music teacher decided to fiiinally make up the music lessons he’d missed with me through the term. –scowl- I would have been content to not bother with them. But each lesson cost like 100 riyals and he’d missed like 5 or 6, so my parents would not have been content at all. I have to go again next Tuesday morning as well. Whilst I do admit that I like playing piano and violin, it’s just waking up in the morning is not my style :} Anyways he started a new piano piece with me.

As well as that I went to the doctor, because I’ve had this cyst thing in my ear lobe for a while now. Most likely due to costume jewellery. I used to think it would just go away, but it got bigger and started exploding quite frequently. Gross. Anyways as it turned out, If I'd gone to the doctor earlier, a few injections of antibiotics would have sufficed to get rid of it. But malhereusement the infection had spread to my cartilage so it had to be chopped out. This surgery involved being injected with a test dose of antibiotics into my arm, being injected with anaesthesia in my ear and then being given another dose of antibiotics in my hand with a drip thing. I discovered that I don’t like needles. I feel this could be a hindrance since the career path I want to pursue is medicine. Haha. Luckily the pain wasn’t too bad once the anaesthesia wore off, just some mild discomfort I guess, especially if I smile. I had to go get another antibiotic injection today, and the bandaging was removed [with my hair being pulled out :( ] and replaced with a plaster. Funfun.

I do however have a number of backup plans. Or alternate reality careers :P . I’d like to be a doctor. Or a bad ass criminal lawyer [a solicitor would not suffice my dream]. Or I’d like to be a computer genius. I like coding and all that jazz. Or I’d like to be able to speak like a gazillion different languages fluently, so I could be a translator. Or work for the UN. It would be reallly cool to work for the UN in general. I don’t really know how all this will work out... :P

I guess if I ever want to achieve one of my retarded career dreams with flying colours boarding school will be helpful.  Also there are some things I’ve clung on to for wayy too long, that I’d really like to let go of. But I’ll miss this place insaneeely. Lots of people hate it here since as a woman you don’t get to drive and you have to wear an abaya and being in a mixed group in public could land you in trouble. It’s not actually THAT bad. And after you live here a while you get used to it. Plus there are a number of advantages to living here. Everything is pretty much done for you. Life is easy. Hence, I am incapable of using a washing machine. [and until recently a microwave and an iron :P ]

What really doesn’t help is my mom expressing her worries. She’s wondered out loud several time whether sending me is worth it. This doesn’t help at all… because I’ve been wondering the same thing.  -_- Also she keeps saying “why are you leaaving me?” She makes it seem that this was entirely my choice. It was not. I went through the decision about a trillion times with her asking what she thought and what not. And on the other side my dad was bullying me and asking why I would “waste such an opportunity that (he) never had as a kid.” etc.

Its gotten quite lonely here as well. M and N has been gone for a while. N and A left a couple of days ago. M and A left today. A is leaving tomorrow or day after. F is busy with he familia visiting. A is MIA. I’ve spoken to R and S online a little. All this leaves me feeling somewhat isolated and out of it. :(

Littlest sister, Aliya was rather amusing today. We were in the car and some foolish youngish guys were speeding like crazy. So my driver yells “PAGALA!” which literally translated means mentally unfit in Urdu. What he meant was “NUTTER!” Ali then states “tum isko pagal mut bolo, meri dost Zahraaf pagal hai!” in English: “don’t call him a nutter, the nutter is my friend Zahraaf.” Apparently Ali just pretends to be her friend and she’s useless. :P

On a side note, I really love this song “Nothing In My Way”, by Keane. It’s been on repeat for a while. I’m considering downloading the sheet music to learn to  play it on the piano. Apparently Keane is going to Lebanon, so some of my friends may see them. I’m very jealous -scowl-.

I am N. This is my blog :} . I'm 16 and was born and brought up in KSA.

It's the start of my summer [actually I'm already about 10 days in] after having gone through the utter misery of IGCSE exams :( .

Next year I'll be going to a boarding school, in the UK, and leaving behind the place that seems the most like home :( [my parent's are both from different countries and I don't have any huge attachment to either, although my Pakistani side is probably more prominent since I can't speak any Bangla at all and don't visit that often.] So I thought I'd keep a blog in order to write down and remember all my "adventures" abroad :P, just in case I somehow forget them, by somehow getting amnesia, because I was somehow involved in a freak accident like swinging too much on my chair and catapulting myself through a window to the moon. Or anything of the sort :} .

Meanwhile, this summer, I'm going to Canada, to take part in the University of Toronto's Youth Summer Program for Medicine [because for the time being anyway, I want to be a doctor]. It should be exciting, since I'm going with two of my closest friends :D and it's a whole month long. Also, I've never been anywhere more West than England, so it should be interesting. My best friend, M should, inshallah be my roommate and our other friend, [heridkwhatbf?] S should be around too :}.

Canada will be in just over a weeks time, and before that I should be here, getting ready to go both to Canada and Boarding [involves sewing on stupid name label tag things] and then I should have a 2 day stopover in London, in which I hope to accomplish useful things.

Since the summer started and I've been over here, I've seen my friends [who I'm going to miss quite horrifically] quite a few times, but within the next few days most of them are leaving, so I guess I'll see whoever stays here longer a few times in the next week or so. I've also been watching Supernatural and Harper's Island in excess :} .

Anyway, this may be the longest blog post I ever write [actually it may be the only one I ever write since I've had a few blogs before... and never really got used to them. Except for the one I had on MSN spaces when I was 12. Which looks sort of ugly now :} and is pretty lame. Although this blog seems to have rekindled my HTML craze of before :P ]

Sound Of Pulling Heaven Down

Blue October

Somewhere, far away from here
I saw stars, stars that I could reach
It was a midnight, a silent twilight
Fell down, beyond the ocean beach
I assemble all the sand that cover wedding beaches
To build a castle so your mom would have a place to stay
Behind the water slide and down the hill where heaven reaches
Land and time is left to float away
So rest assured I have the key to every opening
To every wishing well that's deep enough to dream
I want to show you just how fascinating kissing is
When earth collides with all the space between
I'm reaching farther than I ever have before
Leaving all who broke your heart upon the shore
I may be some sort of crazy
We may be some sort of crazy
But I swear on everything I have and more
So never look behind you, spooky people bring you down
The world is ending there's a party by the bay
I'll wear my suit and tie when I am
I am toasting to the way you put that smile upon my face
Fill up the air balloon and ride with me
Yeah hell is jealous of the rain
Make love like time and space Is ending
While befriending fate's alluring way of putting us to shame
I'm reaching farther than I ever have before
Leaving all who broke your heart upon the shore
I may be some sort of crazy
We may be some sort of crazy
But I swear on everything I have and more
You make the sound of pulling heaven down
You brought the rain's romantic pour
You make the sound
You make the sound
Of pulling heaven down
I'm reaching farther than I ever have before
(Tired of wasting time)
Leaving all who broke your heart upon the shore
(Tired of wasting time)
I may be some sort of crazy
We may be some sort of crazy
But I swear on everything I have and more
I'm reaching farther than I ever have before
(Tired of wasting time)
Leaving all who broke your heart upon the shore
(Tired of wasting time)
I may be some sort of crazy
We may be some sort of crazy
But I swear on everything I have and more

{ this song would definitely be one of my all time favourites; hence the blog’s name. you’ll find it the last song on the music player, with songs from newer blog posts first. if you haven’t heard it, definitely have a listen. }
